Pocketry Almanack Submissions

 

The Pocketry Almanack accepts submission from emerging and aspiring poets.

Priority is given to poets who have not had their work published in a literary journal.

 

Issue Nine is open for submissions from 1st - 15th June 2025.

About Page - Pocket Poetry Border (1400 x 250px)

You can submit poems on any theme but please no:

racism, homophobia, swearing, pornographic descriptions of sex or violence etc.

 

Poems can be in any language as long as they are submitted

with an accurate English language translation.

 

Your unpublished poetry or original artwork will be published in the Pocketry Almanack and your bio and headshot will appear on Pocketry's website and social media accounts.

For more information, please read the FAQ carefully before submitting your work.

 

Submission Guidelines for Poets 

submit up to 3 poems in a single Word document (Times New Roman or Arial, 12 point, 1.2 line spacing)

do not put your name anywhere in the document (body, header, footer etc) or in the file name as poems are selected anonymously

max 18 lines each including breaks; max 45 characters wide including spaces (23 characters for titles)

poems that exceed the line length or width will not be considered

 

Please include:

50 word, third person bio (include your website and instagram account if you have them)

black and white headshot of yourself (plain background is best)

contact details (phone number and address)

 

Please answer these questions in your cover letter:

has your work previously been published in a literary journal?  y/n

please attach three rejection notices from literary journals - (if you have them)

where did you hear about the Pocketry open call for this issue?

 

Submit: e-mail your unpublished poems with 'Pocketry Almanack Issue 9 - Poems' in the subject line to hello at indrani perera dot com.

 

 

Submission Guidelines for Artists

submit a high resolution png file of your black and white artwork with a transparent background

do not put your name anywhere in the document (body, header, footer etc) or in the file name

 

Please include:

50 word, third person bio (include your website and instagram account if you have them)

black and white headshot of yourself (plain background is best)

contact details (phone number and address)

 

Please answer this question in your email:

where did you hear about the Pocketry open call for this issue?

 

Submit: e-mail your original art with 'Pocketry Almanack Issue 8 - Art' in the subject line to hello at indrani perera dot com.

 

Once you have submitted your work, remember to white-list Pocketry and check your spam folder for any emails from us (especially if you have a gmail account!).

 

Submissions received after the deadline will not be accepted.
