The second issue of the Pocketry Almanack was published in August 2020 and includes poems and artwork for your education and edification from the following wordsmiths and artists:
Ren Alessandra is a Melbourne based spoken word artist. She is currently working on her first collection where she explores her reconstruction of self and what it means to be a woman. She can also be found eating sourdough and revelling in the labour of her first novel.
Geneviève Dumas is the Montreal based, printmaker artist behind the brand Goldengen. She likes to think that her work is an investigation of unexpected representations that result from the combination of fragmented materials & feelings. She uses collage and screen printing to build momentum and stories. Find her at www.goldengen.ca and follow her on Instagram @goldengenprint.
H.M. Marie is a poet from New York who (with the help of stolen art supplies from her artistically inclined sister) infuses her writing/ art journal with passionate expressions of the human experience and the simplicity of third grade art skills. You can find her on Instagram @h.m.marie.
Indrani Perera is a poet and self-confessed book geek who likes to make useful things. She’s also the publisher of the Pocketry Almanack. She wrestled with the decision to publish her own work in the Almanack but thought, ‘If I won’t publish myself, who will?’ Find her at www.indraniperera.com and on Instagram @indraniperera.
Riya Rajesh is passionate about voicing her experiences as a woman of colour; through writing, spoken word and event management. She migrated from India to Melbourne as a four-year-old and is cranky about her decrease in spice tolerance. Check out her work on Instagram @riyawritesincolour
Alistair Shaw is a Wimmera-based community development worker, currently contemplating pivoting post-covid into yoga teaching. Loves words, word-plays, puns and cryptic crosswords.
Erhan Us is a conceptual artist and author based in Ankara, Turkey. He studied management, sociology and philosophy and has participated in 70+ exhibitions in 20+ countries. His artworks raise awareness on identity, manipulated realities, religious dogma, status quo and equal rights. Find him at www.erhanus.com or @erhanus on Instagram.
